As you begin to become a part of your hamsters life and routine you can begin to bring it out of the cage, feed it, perhaps place it in the ball or maybe just a relaxation period (if it stays still!)
Ensure to feed it regularly every day, it is necessity to have a regular feeding spot as this helps the hamster to get into a regular routine.
When you handle your pet don't feel frightened to provide it with some treats (these can be purchased from most pet shops even some supermarkets).

There are lots of different types of food we call all packets food (factory products) A good quality Hamster mix makes an ideal core diet for your pet.
This gives your hamster all the carbohydrates and fibre it needs for a healthy lifestyle make sure to give them a fresh mix every day, your hamster may pick a favourite, I know the hamsters that I've looked after have such as they adored the sunflower seeds but disliked the pellets.
However there are lots of secret hamster treats.

Above you can see some Chocolate drops these are made especially for hamsters lots of brands do them. Don't get any idea's these are just for hamsters! Not for you! Well maybe for me.
Hamsters can also have small pieces of fresh fruit and vegetables. Be aware that Hamsters hoard food in their beds, so don't give them too many green vegetables (which can rot).
Hamster delicacies:
- Apple Wood
- Broccoli
- Carrot
Make sure if you try out these foods to chop them up into small pieces and remove any unusual bits.
It is important to provide your hamster with a balanced diet:
- Packaged hamster food.
- Some treats
- A clean supply of water (daily)
- Some delicacies (for special occasions)
You must change your hamster bottle every day (most cages provide a bottle, if not buy one immediately) Fresh drinking water should always be available, usually in a gravity bottle although a small heavy bowl can be used instead.
If you do not change the water supply ever week it could get dirty and begin turning manky lime coloured. So ensure that you change it every day.
Quick Tip: Imagine not having fresh water everyday; exactly!
Like all rodents, a Hamster’s front teeth grow continuously, so provide them with something to gnaw on – dog biscuits are ideal.
