Health checks are not usually recommended for a rodent however if you suspect and illness consult your vet for advice on the phone or in non emergency contact us through email or our message boards, and we will be happy to give you a free support.

Hamsters are short-sighted, so if you let yours out of its cage, watch it closely. For a healthy life, your Hamster needs the following:

  • A good balanced diet is ideal for hamsters alongside humans aren't we all so alike!
  • Clean dry cage, you should aim to clean your hamster cage every week and stick to this routine.
  • Keep in a cool spot away from any direct sunshine.
  • Water bottle and feed bowls cleaned daily
  • Gnawing blocks and chew toys to help wear their continually growing teeth, apple wood is a good choice.

Coming any where near that statistics requires attention, veterinary care (usual), regular food and basic equipment to keep it well exercised and healthy. Once a hamster becomes ill it is crucial for veterinary care or advice immediately. So take this in mind before purchasing one from the pet shop that you are willing to pay for any operations or medications should the hamster develop an a illness
