Hamster Playtime

Playtime can be a very important time to you and your hamster, its a great way of exercising your hamster and having fun at the same time. I wouldn't worry though there's plenty ways of going about doing it.

Sound fun eh? Go ahead give it ago.

There are many different ways of playing/entertaining your hamster. Here are some of the ways I found:

Hamster Maze

The Hamster maze! A great way for a hamster to work its way through obstacles to its goal (usually some food or a treat!)

This may be a non-free way of going about playing with your hamster, however there are nifty work around. Speaking from personal experience i know its possible to create a successful maze for your hamster by using books and standing them up against each other!

Note: When making your maze make sure books are supported well!

Tug of war is another great classic, why not fight your hamster for a treat. The rules of the game are grab a treat from your local pet shop and slowly insert it into your hamsters mouth, making sure it knows your there of course. It should pick up its strong scent, once the hamster begins biting, gradually build up some resistance. Don't overpower the hamster just hold it firm enough for the hamster to snap bits off.

This is a great way of entertaining your hamster whilst keeping him fed too, remember never to overfeed you hamster as this can cause health related issues.

Another way to keep your hamster entertained is putting them on the stairs, hamsters have very sharp feet to grapple on so you may find your hamster climbing up them along side you!

Note: Make sure everyone in your household is notified of this activity!

Hamster Reace

Most active during the evening and night, Hamsters enjoy cardboard tubes to run through and chew on, or a wooden ledge to climb on. Wire-spoked Hamster wheels are not recommended; solid wheels are much safer.
